LIESBEEK STUDIO

For more than a millennium Blue and White ceramics have dominated almost all cultures
from East to West. In the 150 years of the Cape being a Dutch colony almost all the
ceramics used here was decorated in cobalt blue, but nothing was ever produced locally.
This inspired us to start a range of ceramics depicting South African, and mainly Cape
Flora, Landscapes and Vernacular Architecture. They are all hand-painted and our
inspiration was unashamedly Dutch Delftware, but they have acquired a unique style
and clients have affectionately started calling them “Cape Delft”
Whilst they may be very decorative, they are certainly very usable.
The items are all high quality non-toxic under-glazed stoneware that is microwave safe,
oven and dishwasher proof.

ALL WILD is a young enterprise focussing on the production of indigenous essential oils.
These are oils from wild crafted plants – some harvested in the wild, but most grown on
long-abandoned farmlands on our small family farm (Lentelus) in the Bo Kouga.
All our oil plants are grown organically and sustainably.
Almost all of our oils are from plant material sourced directly from the remote little valley
(Tweerivier) within which our farm is nestled. The Bo Kouga lies in the transition area
between Western Cape Mountain Fynbos and the Little Karoo, with a touch of Eastern
Cape influence. The farm is tucked against the flanks of the magnificent Saptouskop,
depicted in our logo, and shares its southern border with the Eastern Cape.
This transition zone, with cooler southern slopes supporting pure fynbos, hot and dry
karroid north slopes, and deep well watered valleys, brings together an incredible
richness of aromatic plants – the extent of which we are still exploring.
Our list of indigenous oils is already extensive. Sourced in the Bo Kouga we have Artemisia
afra, Helichrysum odoratissimum, H. petiolare, H. splendidum and H. cymosum,
Eriocephalus capitellatus and E. tenuipes, Pentzia dentata, and Pteronia incana.
Other indigenous plants we have sourced elsewhere include Eriocephalus punctulatus
and Coleonema album.

Lauren Fowler is an illustrator living and working in Cape Town, South Africa.
She has a studio at The Woodstock Foundry where she spends her days drawing
commissions and designing custom artwork. She sells her art prints to people who are
interested in supporting local art and are looking for something a little different.
All her artwork are editions of 100. Her gift cards come from a personal need to see
a better collection of stationery in the market place, something a little more fun
and not mass produced.
All cards are printed on recycled paper and are blank inside
for your own personal message.
